What is NLP?
|
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is the practice of understanding how individuals absorb and process information from the world around them to create the behaviours and generate the results they do.
Working with the client, the NLP practitioner uses a series of tools and techniques which can help an individual to rid themselves of unwanted habits and unhelpful beliefs, enabling them to build self-confidence and achieve goals. NLP also provides the technology for modelling excellence, encompassing the principle that if it is possible for someone else to achieve excellence in a chose area, why not the client?
Broken down, the words Neuro-Linguistic Programming mean:
Neuro: How we pick up information from the outside world through all of our senses
Linguistic: The language we use to describe and make sense of information we receive
Programming: The way we sequence our actions and create patterns of behaviour as a result of the meaning we assign to information received
Essentially, NLP is about understanding how the brain works and what makes people do what they do.
